The Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival begins with a gold sprite lighting a candle in a darkened church, symbolizing the light of Christ. A brass fanfare heralds the entrance of celebrants from all walks of life, bringing gifts to the altar. Medieval carolers, King Wenceslas, woodsmen, and shepherds join, symbolizing joy, care, and the warmth of the yule log, which represents family and rekindled love. The festival concludes with the hymn "In the Bleak Midwinter," the shining Epiphany Star, and "O Come, All Ye Faithful." This tradition, dating back to 1340 at Queen’s College, Oxford, and brought to America in 1888, celebrates the triumph of Christ over evil.
